Method

Encoding uses encodeURIComponent, which percent-encodes characters that are not safe inside a URL component. Decoding uses decodeURIComponent and reports malformed escape sequences rather than guessing.

Worked example

Hello world & tea becomes Hello%20world%20%26%20tea.

Privacy

The text stays in the browser. No URL is requested or fetched.

Limitations

This is component encoding, not a URL shortener, validator, fetcher, or security scanner. Encoding an entire URL has different semantics from encoding one query or path component.
