Method
The browser URL API parses the supplied absolute URL into standard components.
Worked example
An HTTPS URL containing a port, path, query string, and fragment is split into each corresponding component.
Privacy
The URL is parsed locally and is not requested or visited.
Limitations
Parsing does not verify that a host exists or that a URL is safe. Relative URLs are not accepted in this version.
