JWT Decoder

Decode JWT header and payload locally without sending the token anywhere.

Decoding is not verification. This tool does not verify the signature, issuer, audience, expiration, claims, trust, or token validity.

Decode token

Method

The decoder converts Base64URL header and payload segments back to UTF-8 text and pretty-prints JSON when the decoded content is valid JSON.

Worked example

A token whose payload contains {"sub":"123"} will display that JSON payload after Base64URL decoding.

Privacy

The token is decoded locally in the browser. No network request is required.

Limitations

Readable claims do not make a token trustworthy. Signature verification requires the correct cryptographic key and validation rules outside the scope of this decoder.
