Investment Growth Calculator
Project hypothetical future value from an initial investment, monthly contributions, return assumption, and time horizon.
Method
The calculator compounds the initial balance monthly and applies the standard future-value-of-an-annuity formula to recurring monthly contributions. Contributions can be modeled at the beginning or end of each month.
Worked example
With $10,000 initially, $500 contributed at the end of each month, a constant 7% nominal annual return compounded monthly, and a 10-year horizon, the projected future value is approximately $106,639.02.
When this is useful
Useful for exploring how time, recurring contributions, and a hypothetical constant return affect a projected future balance.
Privacy
The values you enter into this calculator are processed in your browser by Practical Tools Hub application assets. The calculator does not need to send your calculation inputs to a third-party calculation service.
Limitations
Real investment returns are not constant or guaranteed. This tool does not model volatility paths, taxes, fees, inflation, contribution limits, withdrawals, sequence-of-returns risk, or investment suitability. It is illustrative arithmetic, not investment advice.
