CAGR Calculator
Calculate compound annual growth rate between two endpoint values.
Calculate CAGR
Method
Compound annual growth rate is the constant annual rate that would connect the beginning value to the ending value over the specified number of years. The calculator uses CAGR = (ending ÷ beginning)^(1 ÷ years) − 1, then also reports the total endpoint percentage change and the ending-to-beginning multiple.
Worked example
A beginning value of 10,000 and ending value of 16,105.10 over 5 years produces approximately 10.00% CAGR.
When this is useful
CAGR is useful for comparing endpoint growth rates across periods of different lengths, summarizing business metrics, and describing historical growth in a compact annualized form.
Privacy
Values are processed locally in the browser and are not sent to a financial data service.
Limitations
CAGR smooths the path between two endpoints. It does not show interim volatility, timing of cash flows, risk, taxes, fees, inflation, or future performance. The output is an arithmetic description of the values entered, not personalized financial advice.
FAQ
Does CAGR show volatility?
No. CAGR compresses the change between two endpoints into one constant annualized rate and hides the path taken between those endpoints.
Is CAGR a forecast?
No. This calculator describes the inputs you provide. It does not predict future growth or investment performance.
