Formula
Add mode: VAT = net × rate ÷ 100, gross = net + VAT. Extract mode: net = gross ÷ (1 + rate ÷ 100), VAT = gross − net.
Worked example
100 at a 20% VAT rate gives VAT of 20 and gross of 120. Extracting 20% VAT from 120 gives net 100 and VAT 20.
