Ratio Calculator
Simplify a positive whole-number ratio and see the equivalent decimal value.
Simplify A:B
How simplification works
The calculator finds the greatest common divisor of the two positive integers, then divides both parts by that same value. The result is an equivalent ratio with no larger common whole-number factor.
Worked example
24:36 has a greatest common divisor of 12. Dividing both parts by 12 gives 2:3. The decimal value 24 ÷ 36 is approximately 0.666667.
Limitations
Version 1 accepts positive whole numbers only. It does not simplify algebraic expressions, units, or multi-part ratios.

Common questions
Does simplifying change the ratio?
No. Both sides are divided by the same nonzero factor, so the relationship remains equivalent.
Can the second number be zero?
No. The decimal A ÷ B would be undefined, so this tool requires both parts to be positive integers.
