Hourly to Salary Calculator

Convert an hourly wage into gross weekly, monthly, and annual pay using the hours and paid weeks you actually enter.

Convert hourly pay to salary

Enter the hourly rate, paid hours per week, and paid weeks per year. The calculation is gross pay before taxes, deductions, overtime adjustments, or benefits.

How the calculation works

The calculator first finds gross weekly pay by multiplying the hourly rate by paid hours per week. It then multiplies weekly pay by the number of paid weeks in the year. The monthly figure is the annual amount divided by 12.

Formula: Annual gross pay = hourly rate × paid hours per week × paid weeks per year.

Worked example

At $25 per hour, 40 paid hours each week, and 52 paid weeks:

  • Weekly gross = 25 × 40 = $1,000.
  • Annual gross = 1,000 × 52 = $52,000.
  • Monthly equivalent = 52,000 ÷ 12 = $4,333.33.

If some weeks are unpaid, reduce the paid-weeks input. For example, 50 paid weeks at the same hourly rate and hours produces $50,000 instead of $52,000.

Limitations

This is a gross-pay conversion, not a paycheck or tax calculator. It does not apply federal, state, or local tax, Social Security, Medicare, overtime law, bonuses, commissions, retirement contributions, health insurance, paid-leave policy, or other payroll rules. It also does not determine whether a worker is legally hourly or salaried.

Privacy

The calculation is performed in your browser. You do not need to enter a name, employer, account number, or other identifying information.

Common questions

Why is 40 hours × 52 weeks often used?

It is a convenient example equal to 2,080 paid hours. It is not a universal work schedule. Use the hours and paid weeks that match the scenario you are comparing.

Does paid time off count as a paid week?

If the salary-equivalent comparison treats that time as paid, include it in the paid-weeks assumption. If the time is unpaid, reduce the number of paid weeks.

Is monthly pay the same as four weekly paychecks?

No. Twelve months do not contain exactly four weeks each. This calculator computes the monthly equivalent by dividing annual gross pay by 12.
