Travel Cost Utility
Fuel Cost Calculator
Estimate fuel required and trip fuel cost using your distance, vehicle efficiency, and fuel price assumptions.
Miles and MPG
Kilometers and km/L
Formula
US mode: gallons = miles ÷ MPG; cost = gallons × price per gallon.
Metric mode: liters = kilometers ÷ km/L; cost = liters × price per liter.
Worked examples
- 300 miles at 30 MPG uses 10 gallons. At $4 per gallon, estimated fuel cost is $40.
- 500 km at 10 km/L uses 50 liters. At 2 currency units per liter, estimated cost is 100.
Limitations
The estimate uses the efficiency and price you enter. Real fuel consumption can differ because of traffic, terrain, weather, vehicle load, driving behavior, idling, route choice, and other conditions. This page does not retrieve live fuel prices.
Privacy
The calculation runs locally in the browser. No location, route, vehicle identifier, or payment information is required.
Common questions
Why use my own fuel price?
Fuel prices change by place and time. User-entered pricing keeps the calculation transparent and avoids pretending that a static rate is current.
Does the result include tolls or parking?
No. It estimates fuel only.
