JavaScript Formatter
Format common JavaScript source locally without executing it.
Format JavaScript
How formatting works
The formatter scans the text character by character, tracks quoted strings and comments, and adds indentation around braces and statement separators. It never evaluates the JavaScript.
Worked example
A compact function such as function hello(){console.log(‘hello’);} is expanded into multiple indented lines for easier reading.
Privacy
Source text is processed locally in the browser and does not need to be uploaded.
Limitations
This is a conservative lexical formatter, not a full ECMAScript parser, linter, transpiler, or Prettier replacement. Very complex, incomplete, or unusual syntax can require a parser-backed formatter.
