Convert JSON to CSV
Conversion rules
- The top-level JSON value must be an array.
- Every array item must be a non-null object and not another array.
- CSV columns are the union of object keys in the order they are first encountered.
- Missing or null values become empty fields.
- Nested objects and arrays are serialized as compact JSON inside a CSV field rather than flattened.
- Fields containing commas, double quotes, carriage returns, or line breaks are quoted; embedded double quotes are doubled.
Worked example
JSON: [{"name":"Maya","score":91},{"name":"Omar","score":87}]
CSV:name,score
Maya,91
Omar,87
Why conversion can lose structure
JSON can represent nested objects and arrays, while ordinary CSV is a flat row-and-column format. This tool preserves a nested value as a JSON string inside one CSV cell instead of inventing a flattening scheme. That makes the transformation explicit, but it is not the same as preserving the original JSON structure.
Limitations
CSV applications differ in delimiter, encoding, quoting, type inference, line-ending, and import behavior. This page uses commas and common RFC 4180-style escaping. Review the CSV in the target application before relying on it for a production import.
Privacy
Parsing and conversion run locally in the browser. No JSON is sent to a conversion API.

Common questions
What happens when objects have different keys?
The header contains the union of keys, and a row leaves a field empty when that object does not contain the corresponding key.
Can I convert a single JSON object?
Not in this version. Wrap records in an array because CSV output represents multiple rows.
