Electricity Cost Calculator
Estimate energy use and electricity cost from device wattage, hours of use, days, and a price per kilowatt-hour that you enter.
Estimate electricity use and cost
Formula
Energy (kWh) = watts ÷ 1,000 × hours per day × days.
Estimated cost = energy in kWh × price per kWh.
Worked example
A 1,000-watt device used 2 hours per day for 30 days uses 60 kWh. At a user-entered rate of 0.15 per kWh, estimated cost is 9.00.
Why the rate is user-entered
Electricity pricing can vary by utility, plan, usage tier, time of use, fees, taxes, and date. This page does not fetch or claim a current tariff. Enter the price that fits the scenario you want to estimate.
Limitations
The estimate assumes the device draws the entered wattage for the entered hours. It does not model variable power draw, standby usage, demand charges, power factor, tiered rates, time-of-use pricing, taxes, minimum charges, credits, or billing adjustments.
Privacy
The calculation runs locally in the browser and does not require an address or utility account.
Common questions
What if the device does not run at full rated wattage?
Use a measured or representative average wattage if available; the result is only as accurate as the input assumptions.
Can I enter my own currency?
Yes. The numerical cost is in whatever currency unit your price-per-kWh input represents.
